As some of you know, here I will work with the Skagaströnd’s community about the foundation myth of the city. During my stay I will try to come back in life Pordis, the soothsayer, the first inhabitant of the village, a woman lived in the 10th century, respected for her wisdom and skilled in both magic and magical arts. Pordis lived in a farm located at the foothill of the Spákonufell Mountain. It is said that when Þórdís knew that she didn’t have long to live, she took a treasure chest up to Spákonufell and placed it on a ledge just in front of the mountain’s up- most rock, Spákonufellsborg (Spákonufell’s Rock). She announced that, a woman who in her upbringing had not been baptised in the name of the holy trinity or any other of God’s titles would get the chest and its treasure. Such a woman has not been found yet, so it’s very likely that the chest is still there.

What is the treasure chest of Pordis? What means this archetype for us today? How to reactivate it? I’ll find out with the women of Skagastrond…

Cari tutti, sono finalmente arrivata a Skagastrond, dove starò per circa  2 mesi presso la Nes Artist Residency!!! Sicuramente farò migliaia di foto in questo posto, intanto però guardate le prime…

Come alcuni di voi sanno, qui avrò modo di lavorare con la comunità di Skagaströn, luogo della residenza, sul mito di fondazione della città. Durante la mia permanenza cercherò di far rivivere Pordis, la profetessa, primo abitante del villaggio, una donna vissuta nel X secolo dopo Cristo, rispettata per la sua saggezza e temuta per le sue arti magiche. Pordis viveva in una fattoria ai pedi di una montagna che oggi porta il suo nome, aveva lunghi capelli che pettinava con un pettine d’oro e teneva tutto il suo oro, il suo tesoro, segreto nella montagna. Solo una donna non battezzata che non abbia mai sentito nemmeno una parola di Dio può ritrovare questo tesoro. Che cos’è l’oro di Pordis? Che cosa ci dice quest’archetipo oggi? Come riattivarlo? Lo scoprirò con le donne di Skagastrond…
