Taking pictures of Skagastrond, with his modernist style houses, the beautiful and imposing mountain on the background, the bay of the sea, made me think about Albert Camus and his views of the picturesque in « The Fall ». What Camus says in that book about Holland, can, for me, also be apply at the Icelanders small towns, so colorful, clean and minimalist. These cities and these landscapes combined, give the effect of the picturesque … that’s because my favorite part in Skagastrond is the harbor. At the harbor there is always something that escapes the immanent control of the picturesque, and this gives me a way out and comfort me…

Fotografare Skagastrond con le sue case in stile modernista, la montagna bella e imponente sullo sfondo, la baia sul mare, mi ha fatto pensare a Camus e alle sue considerazioni sul pittoresco ne « La caduta ». Quello che Camus dice in quel libro sull’Olanda, per me può valere anche per le piccole città Islandesi, così colorate, pulite e minimaliste. Queste città e questi paesaggi messi insieme danno l’effetto del pittoresco…ecco perchè la mia parte preferita di Skagastrond è il porto. Al porto c’è sempre qualcosa che sfugge al controllo immanente del pittoresco, e questo mi dà scampo e mi consola…
